CoEd and CPSPA host PUP and SWU’s Academic and Cultural exchange 2014

     The Polytechnic University of the Philippines-College of Education and College of Political Science and Public Administration through the Office of International Affairs supervised by   Director Maria Teresa Villar host this year’s PUP and Seoul Women’s University (SWU) Academic and Cultural Exchange held from July 18 to July 25.

“The PUP –SWU’s strong partnership which stood for six amicable years is an epitome of sincere goodwill and warm camaraderie…PUP and SWU have proven that there is no such thing as language barrier, only understanding,; there is no cultural difference but diversity; there is no racial color only beauty; and that there are no physical boarders, just mutual respect” said Executive Vice President Dr. Manuel M. Muhi in his inspirational message during the opening program last July 18. Moreover, He envisions that the mutual friendship between PUP and SWU would etch deep cultural and social contributions to both Nations.

Also, CoEd Dean Dr. Milagrina A. Gomez and CPSPA Dean Dr. Sanjay Claudio both showed their generous support through their contributions as co-chair in the organizing committee. The two college provide Ten student Buddies from their different Departments to accompany the Ten SWU participants all through out. The exchange program was filled with activities prepared by the organizing committee such as campus tour, Film showing, workshop, Cooking Demonstration, Culture, language lessons and folkdances.


                The Ten-day cultural Exchange concluded through a closing program last July 25 wherein  the Buddies and the SWU Participants shared learning experiences, tokens and messages.

Tanggol Wika – PUP: Protesta Kontra CMO no. 20

           Umabot sa halos walong daan dalubguro at magaaral kasama ang may limandanng PUPian ang sumugod sa harapan ng Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Hulyo 11.

               Isinagawa ang kilos protesta sa harapan ng CHED Headquarter sa Quezon City upang kondenahin ang ibinabang CMO 20 series  of 2013 na layyonh tanggalin ang asignatutrang Filipino sa lahat ng programa liban sa mga may medyor nito  epektibo sa lahat ng Kolehiyo at Pamantasan sa buong bansa.

                Kasama sa kilos-protesta sina Dr. Jnnifor L. Aguilar ng Kagawaran ng Edukasyon sa Sekundarya at Elementarya, Dalubguro Marvin Lai ng kagawaran ng Filipinolohiya, iba pang mga dalubguro sa Filipino, mga magaaral, Tanggol Wika-PUP at DAMLAY –PUP ang nakiisa upang katawanin ang Politeknikong Unibersidad ng Pilipinas, ang pinakamalaking unibersidad sa bansa sa usaping mag-aaral. Naroon maging ang mga dalubguro at mag-aaral ng UP Diliman University Council, UST DLSU, PNU at PLMAR. Nagbigay suporta naman ang DAMLAY Philippines Inc. at ang ACT Teachers Party –list.


                Si Dalubguro Perla Carpio ng PUP at Dr. Lakandupil Garia ng DLSU ang ilan sa mga humarap sa mga opisyal ng CHED upang pagdiskusyunan ang usaping hinggil sa CMO no. 20 series of 2013. 

CoEd student leaders initiate induction rites

       To fully execute their desired plans and activities, the student leaders of the College of Education organized an oath taking ceremony held last July, 11 at CoEd’s Multimedia room.

            The said event was attended by the new vice president for student services Dr. Herminia Manimtim, together with the Dean of the College of Education Dr. Milagrina Gomez, some faculty members, club advisers and the student leaders themselves.

            Vision, mission, goals and objectives were presented by each organization, as well as their general plan of activities to be fulfilled this semester. Clubs present were FBTO, B.E.S.T., L.I.S.S.O., The Limestone, DAMLAY, MATHRIIX, Elementary Club, E.L.I.T.E., GLITES, SITES and P.S.S.G.

Dr. Manimtim also gave a motivational message concerning true and sincere leadership. Moreover, she commended the Coed Dance Troupe for its outstanding performance and suggested that they should compete in a higher level.

            The oath taking ceremony close through a message from the student council president Mr. Harvey Baloloy and an inspirational remark given by Dr. Caroline Sumande, the chairperson of the Department of Business Teacher Education.

B.E.S.T Society holds 2nd Community Development Program

The College of Education Bachelor of Elementary and Secondary Education Teachers’ (B.E.S.T) Society conducts 2nd Community Development Program held last July 9, at PUP- Community Outreach Learning Center (COLC).

      The said program aimed to develop basic knowledge and skills of children, promote enjoyment in learning through practical activities, explorations, discussions, and make students understand at early age the importance of education.

       B.E.S.T. Society Officers in supervision of their club adviser, Prof. Mavel B. Besmonte, introduced to the pupils the concept of education through storytelling, games and fun activities. Moreover, the COLC Kids were also provided Hygiene Kit, School Supplies, and snacks made possible through the contributions and donations of DESED students.

CoEd welcomes freshmen studes

      Polytechnic University of the Philippines, College of Education holds a freshman orientation to serve the new generation of future teachers last July 9, at PUP Bulwagang Balagtas.

                 The program commenced with a cheering competition joined by the students from each department. Afterwards, Dean Gomez rendered a message motivating the students to do their best in their studies, - pass the let, and contribute to the name of our college. Assistant to the Vice President Professor Norberto Caturay also gave his remarks.

General Directives, rules, regulations and scholastic delinquency were given. Major and Minor Student Organizations such as The LIMESTONE , BEST, FBTO, LISSO, and STUDENT COUNCIL presented their vision, mission and objectives as well as their plans for this semester and a chance to encourage the students to support their enthusiasm.

The program concluded with a closing remarks delivered by the chairperson of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Dr. Jennifor L. Aguilar.

54 Aspiring Ballers race out for PUP-CoEd tryout

      All guts and skills were unleashed as 54 basketball players battled out for a spot in the PUP-College of Education basketball team last July 8, 2014 at the PUP open court.

      An all-out blast of action by the 54 hopefuls filled up the CoEd basketball tryout.  All aspiring applicants released all their best shots to be named as one of the eight new basketball players of the CoEd Team.
          
      In the end, 24 strong players remained standing, and were set to clash once again for the eight slots in the basketball team.

      The College of Education basketball player and captain ball said that they did not expect that a large number of applicants would come, he also added that the players should give their best shot and show sportsmanship.

       All 24 finalists would face each other once again to narrow down the list to eight, consisting of five new players and three reservists.
