Corollary to the theme “Filipino: Wika ng Pagkakaisa”, The College of Education of Polytechnic University of the Philippines - through the rigorous efforts of PUP DAMLAY – celebrates “BUWAN NG WIKANG PAMBANSA 2014” at PUP Sta. Mesa, Manila, August 1.
A parade to officially jump start the
celebration of Filipino Month continued in spite of the stormy weather. CoEd
studes together with PUP Laboratory High school showed their support through
wearing national costumes that resemble nationalism. Afterwards, the program
proper resumed at CoEd’s MMR wherein Professor Lina Felices, the supportive
adviser of PUP Damlay welcomed everyone in the celebration of Filipino Month.
Moreover, the beloved Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Milagrina A. Gomez
asserted a speech concerning Filipino Language as a part of our identity and
success. DESED chairperson, Dr. Jennifor Aguilar also gave his high-spirited
message that includes the University’s stand on CHED Memorandum No. 20. He
reported the extensive efforts of every Filipino language defendant to retain
Filipino subjects on Tertiary Level.
Announcements
are made to encourage the students to join contests organized for the month of
August, this includes essay writing, Talumpati, Tula, Likhang Awit, HaRAPan or
fliptop battle, Infomercial, Photo Essay, Interpretative Dance, Sabayang
Pagbigkas and the much awaited Ginoo at Binibining Wika 2014. These
competitions and activities aim to enhance the students’ talents and
importantly, promote the use of Filipino in our daily living. Furthermore, the
winners of each competition will represent the University for the Regional
Celebration of Wikang Pambansa by the respectful Damlay Philippines.
